Probably well enough yes. We dont need the time to be correct.. just that it ticks.

If precision and keeping time is not important then even clock oscillator and battery would not be required.

i've basically wired up every spare CPLD pin to the arm now.

Can be there 12v/+- for soundcards? Like opl4 or carnivore2 (got scc in fpga) cartridge? Also instead of SCC can be there MSXmusic standard?

I presume the MSX2 uses the ram on the clock chips for config settings then? A bit like the Falcon I guess.

I've googled the chip and it does seem to be available still easily enough but if you can easily emulate it then I guess it's a nobrainer unless you need to use the arm horsepower somewhere else?

There is a bit of a penalty transferring stuff between the arm and CPLD. Really at this point i'm trying to give us the tools to do what we need.
