Since Cyril from 16-32bit.eu made a new batch of his Power PSU for the ST series, I picked up one for my Monsterbo powered STE.

Looks good in black:

And even matches the Monsterbo colour:

I wish the ATW800/2 was also black...

I now have enough juice for my setup. :D

Next step, modify my STE case for the HDMI connector.

Could you remove the (redundant) RF modulator and then route a HDMI cable out through the existing TV out hole?

I guess STe cases are probably not rare and so cutting one is probably not like cutting a TT030 or MegaSTe case which IMO would only devalue it.

I was thinking about (I'm not so keen on cutting cases), but the HDMI connector is too close to the case to route a cable...

If the Monster bus connector was slightly further back, it would be feasible.

Definitely something to feedback to Alan for any future batches.

What about replacing the hdmi connector with a vertically mounted connector?

How would I connect it ?

There is no room to plug anything between the HDMI connector and plastic case.

Or do you mean de-solder the horizontal one and replace it with a vertical one ?

Yes, sorry I meant de-solder and replace. It's not something I'd attempt but you have the soldering skills 8-)

EDIT:

assuming you can find something with the same footprint I suppose

Thanks for this clarification.

Yes, I would have to find an HDMI connector with the same footprint, but I guess it's not so hard.

But the hassle would be then to de-solder the Tang Nano, de-solder its HDMI connector, solder the new one and then solder back the Tang Nano to the ATW800/2...

Oh, and just another point.

A vertical HDMI connector could potentially hit the upper case with (and even without) and HDMI extender cable fitted in...
