The hardship of the vintage tech restorer...

Post by Steve »

Yes I do wash and clean every individual component... Beer is a requirement... Don't ask me about that time I did the mechanical STM keyboard which was basically the same but with 101 tiny springs also... That one required the hard stuff! :P

One of my least favourite tasks, cleaning and fixing keyboards.

I like to see you have your priorities the right way round @Steve with the beer :)

Indeed. This is the kind of thing that makes me laugh when I'm haggling people who have 'attic' finds of old Ataris etc and ask for high money. I'm always like... do you realise how much work I have to do in order to sell these to people, in the knowledge that my clients won't catch rabies! lol :)

Doesn't beer leave a sticky residue on the membrane though?
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.
