The last time the 68030 was manufactured was around 2017 if I'm not wrong. So, all the usual sources (Mouser, ...) no more list them. Anyway, except speculations from sellers, there are no reason to have to buy this kind of FE CPU very expensive. 10/15€ was the price before they stop to sold them and China have usually a lot of stock. Well... I will test them and let you know how they work... Or not. ;)exxos wrote: 07 May 2023 10:57It's always the same problem with china stuff. Never know what's genuine. I think you just have to assume the worst all the time :( sadly the only known source which will be legit is BEST Electronics. Of course crazy prices

Problem is some may work and some may not. Not easy to test when they can't be used in sockets :(TotO wrote: 07 May 2023 11:26 have usually a lot of stock. Well... I will test them and let you know how they work... Or not. ;)
I did build a PGA to SMT 030 adapter a few years ago. I didn't realise there was a larger SMT 030 until then

Re: DFB1 based-design clone
Sure, that is the main problem with all the SMT parts bought to resellers. I will have to solder first the CPU and few parts to plug the expansion connectors to a breath board to check if it run properly, before assembling all the other parts.exxos wrote: 07 May 2023 11:40Problem is some may work and some may not. Like the i386, the 68030FE version is around 1 inch square. An adapter can be nice to test many boards with the same tested CPU, if the pins can be added around the footprint... But I do not expect to build a lot of boards for my usage anyway, so it not worth it. :Pexxos wrote: 07 May 2023 11:40I did build a PGA to SMT 030 adapter a few years ago. Re: DFB1 based-design clone
I have finally renamed the expansion "POWER CORE 030", kept 3 LED and moved the unused I/O to a 12-pin connector.
I'm now working on the assembling files required to order 5 PCB with the bottom parts already soldered. :)
It cost close to nothing on factory to add capacitors and resisrors and will save time to directly test the top side.

The test PCBs are now in production. :)
When shipped, I will order the missing parts for the Top side.

I don't remember. I did total them all up at some point to make sure I was't drawing too much, but it was a long time ago.Rustynutt wrote: 06 May 2023 17:55 @Badwolf
Off the top of your head, do you know the current draw from the 3.6Vcc components of the design?
Bit above my pay grade on the design, do you use a voltage regular off 5Vcc as a source?
IIRC the regulator I use (an LM1117) is good for 800mA, so it must be less than that!

May have missed it. Is there a guide to flashing the board?
Can an edited TOS file be flashed, or are the loads kind of a combination of things?

Let's not clog up TotO's thread with generic DFB1 questions, but yes, you can flash anything that will fit into 512k and boot.Rustynutt wrote: 09 May 2023 21:44 May have missed it. Is there a guide to flashing the board?
