Re: Look what Ive just nabbed off Ebay...
So....
Being a CRT fanatic (at least 5 around at any time! lol), and the proud owner (only known owner of!) a Commodore Ranger 15" multisync CRT, I was amazed to spot an Ebay auction close to me which had a BBC Micro bundled with (amongst other things) an Aydin 15 Ranger (which is the non C= badged version; even the model no. is exactly the same).
Not wanting the BBC gear, but knowing it would be pricey, I attempted to bid up to a 'guesstimate' of what the BBC gear was worth and then add a bit more for the monitor. (Was going to see if @rubber_jonnie wanted any extras for his retro computing collection! )
Anyway, it was not to be.. I was outbid and that was that.
Or so I thought.... :o
I told the seller beforehand that I just wanted the monitor, and to my surprise, a few days later he asks that if he can locate an identical Aydin monitor, would I be interested?
So of course, I said yes!
And here it is, all paid for and ready for me to collect tomorrow.
It almost defies belief that a monitor that I had been looking for for a long time, was not only close by, but there were two!
These babies are good for 15khz-37Khz which is good for 320x200 up to 800x600 or IIRC 1024x768i. This can be with either analog (Amiga/ST/etc...)or digital RGB (great for the C128 VDC output).
BTW, here's my one (bad picture, nicked from Gona's Commodore monitor database site, which is actually my picture I sent him anyway  )
More pictures when I get it, along with it attached to an Amiga in RGBI mode for a laugh (as my C128D is stowed away and I don't have the hand made Amiga analog RGB lead handy either). :P
Long live the CRT!!

Suppose it's good we moving to a dual core server soon. Think it will need the extra core just to serve your signature at this rate :lol:rubber_jonnie wrote: 09 Feb 2022 15:11 Oh, the forum signature is only a small grouping of essentials :)
