4MB to 1MB of RAM in software?
Is there a way to trick my Atari into thinking it has 1MB of RAM using software?

Probably programs in floppyshop PDL which do it. Of course you can set this easily on a ....H5

Re: 4MB to 1MB of RAM in software?
Interesting thing just happened.
I booted the atari from TOS 1.0 disk.
Then viewed my disk containing the RAM lowering software and a folder containing MIDIDraw.
On the disk there where a few odd files with symbols under them (probably corruption) and the MIDIDraw folder appeared empty.
This disk was formatted in EmuTOS and is DOS compatible (meaning I can swap between PC and Atari)
I noticed last night that a disk formatted in TOS 1.0 isn't swappable between machines.
Anyway...when I reduced my RAM to 1MB the files on my floppy disk appeared normally and the MIDIDraw folder was populated.
Makes me wonder now if my RAM is implicated in some of my past issues (which are easily worked around in my main setup)
MIDI Draw still only manages the start screen and is frozen.
I wonder if this might be copy protection?

Not sure, but I thought TOS1.00 couldn't even read DOS disks ?

Probably should leave that rabbit hole @exxos
Peter's RAM program is great. I can run PHYSTOP.TOS in EmuTOS and it restarts my setup and reports the new RAM on the start screen.
Found out that MIDIDraw needs 1MB to run.

IIRC (someone correct me if I'm wrong, as it's been eons), TOS 1.0 can read DOS floppies fine, just doesn't format floppies that DOS machines can read.

Think it was TOS v1.4 and up that allowed both...

Re: 4MB to 1MB of RAM in software?
That's the cutoff I recall as well, but again I thought it was about formatting, not reading and that TOS could always read a MS-DOS-formatted floppy. Perhaps someone who knows for sure can set the record straight.
