Re: The TF536 on a CDTV
I hope we're getting somewhere here, you guys have better context so I would like to answer some questions to make it clear:
- Generally speaking, CDTV is the same as A500, so card supporting A500 will support CDTV as well
- Card requires later Kickstart, so resorting to KS switcher allows you to boot either classic CDTV (1.3) or 3.1 for TF536 support, which renders booting from CD unavailable anyway
- CD ROM device will be inaccessible when running from CF on TF536 for system to boot, but still will be detected and available in Workbench. One way to go around it is to flash a non-autoconfig version of the firmware and add the fastmem in the startup sequence. That way the drive will work.
- TF536 will sit on the M68K socket with 2 rows of pins (slightly shortened) but requires CPU soldered directly on the PCB, no relocator required
- the board will pivot on C59 Capacitor using mounting bracket I'm designing. The bracker will have a small hole for TF536 C15 capacitor
- IDE connector has to be right angled and pointing downwards to allow using empty space to the left for CF card.
- CPU should sit ideally under CDTV case helping with heat dissipation
If I'm not correct somewhere here please help and let's make the CDTV community happy.

Ok, so I guess none of you is able to build this card. Nevertheless, thanks for your time

I'm not entirely clear what you need. If you need a TF536 then there are a bunch of people here who can do that. The rest of it is installation of already available components?bartekmalysz wrote: 30 Jun 2020 11:31 Ok, so I guess none of you is able to build this card. Nevertheless, thanks for your time

Re: The TF536 on a CDTV
The only reason I reached out to this forum was through recommendation from Alen Marks, as he was not able to support the CDTV testing:
You provided answers already or confirmed them in this thread (no socket, flash firmware without autoconfig, etc) or concluded by observation (right angled connector pointing downwards). I'm just looking for someone to build it like they do with other cards, just accommodate the changes, that's it. Many thanks
I have a medical condition, can't do precise, manual work, so modifying, soldering is out of question for me.You should probably ask someone with a CDTV to build you one, probably 8-bit-dreams on exxos since he has one and can ensure that it fits.

Re: The TF536 on a CDTV
So you really just need a TF536 with an extra socket strip at the 68000 and with 030 soldered direct onto the board. And flashed with a non-autoconfig firmware?bartekmalysz wrote: 30 Jun 2020 11:55 I have a medical condition, can't do precise, manual work, so modifying, soldering is out of question for me.

I used insulating tape on the bottom of mine to stop shorts.

Re: The TF536 on a CDTV
Yes Steve, it appears to build a fitting, working TF536 for CDTV few things need to be accomodated:
1. No CPU socket
2. 2 rows of additional pins
3. Right angled IDE connector pointing downwards (just pins, no plastic, like CF adapters)
3. Firmware flashed without autoconfig - fastmem to be added on startup
In summary of what I gathered so far. Alan was not able to do it because he hasn't got CDTV and was reluctant to send it back and forth from Canada to UK to test, tweak, etc.
I know you don't do builds anymore, but would you be able to reliably recommend someone who could, preferably in Europe / UK. I don't mind sending it back and forth at my cost as long as it will result in something we can share with the community (not to mention I would like to see CDTV prices going up :) )

Re: The TF536 on a CDTV
I think @go0se might be able to do that... He wont be able to test on a CDTV though. But I guess he could send to me to verify before posting?

Re: The TF536 on a CDTV
Either @go0se or @8 Bit Dreams should be able to do this. Since I don't own a CDTV, I don't want to be blindly building a board that I can't ensure works or fits on that machine (I have never even seen a CDTV in real life so I have literally no point of reference on how this should fit, and obviously no way to test it after). I have refunded the original purchase amount and would appreciate if one of you guys could help @bartekmalysz out.terriblefire wrote: 30 Jun 2020 12:29 I think @go0se might be able to do that... Re: The TF536 on a CDTV
This sounds feasible. Let me look into it properly this evening and see what is actually required.
Coincidently I should have had this last week :

But I forgot all about it until eBay kindly notified me after the auction had ended.
No Karaoke for go0se! ...
