To be fair the mouldings are good and the buttons etc. feel OK...

On one controller the analogue "down" works only if you pull it down a little, then it goes up.
On the other controller the D-pad does left and down if you press left, most of the time.

Otherwise they're fine.

I didn't expect anything better for £23 including delivery though to be honest.
I got lucky and managed to bag a Competition Pro controller fro a tenner. It was filthy though and missing screws, however it has proved to be a decent controller after some maintenance and it does have turbo switches for all of the buttons.

Not sure how it ended up this way, never having had Nintendo consoles BITD, but I've ended up with a Famicom, a NES, a SNES, an N64, a WII and a WII-U, not to mention numerous Gameboys and a Switch Lite!!!

Good job I have enough space to store them...

OK, well those controllers were good enough to test the system but the analogue stick on both doesn't work correctly in many games and in Mario ones doesn't work at all. Definitely not fully compatible. It's a pity as otherwise they feel pretty good quality.

The SummerCart64 works well and was pretty easy to update and get working.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Trying to remember if some of the games I have didn't work with the analogues stick, I'm sure some didn't. Will try and have a look when I get home from holiday.

I ordered one of those HDMI adapters you suggested. I've also ordered a couple of real controllers off eBay and a controller memory for saving as game keep complaining.

I've been playing Rayman 2 this afternoon. It's quite fun despite the number of cut scenes.

It's very definitely a late 1990s gaming experience where everything seemingly had to be re-imagined in 3D, but with a terribly small polygon count and bad textures. :-)

Oh, and for some reason dingey, dark colours.

There is also the memory (RAM) cart that goes in the console itself. It isn't obligatory but some games do need the extra RAM to run at all.

As for the savegame carts, yes, it very annoying when it continually bugs you about not being able to save a game.

I need to pull mine out again to play a few more games, but I've been on other things of late.

Yes, it seemed to be the way of things at the time, where it had to be 3d or it was rubbish, but as you say, small polygon counts and textures that look like a melted bar of chocolate!!!
