How well does the air con work @exxos!

My better half is making a lot of unsubtle hints about us getting something better than just a fan...

Does the job I suppose. But think its struggling a bit today. The room is a lot cooler ! Part of the problem is no proper seal against the window, so its got some warm air being shot from the right side of my wood sheet at the moment, waiting for some foam to be cut to size to pad the gap. Then going to put a adjustable curtain rail across the middle to hold the board up properly.

Really there is no where for the hot air to actually go. It's like a fridge on the floor and baking hot higher up in the room   Really need a small extractor fan on the ceiling to shift the hot air out. But .. effort... :P

I got this one

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/317043070717

It was £295 when I bought it though last year.

I brought it basically as it had 2 speeds (wanted 3) but the speeds are basically loud, and louder ! Plus it was the smallest size for the output (if to be believed) Along with energy class. I went with it having a quiet mode, but its BS really, the compressor makes all the noise and you need that for the cooling.

It cools my room , but my room isn't big. You probably would be struggling to cool a room if it was much larger than mine. I wouldn't go with less than 9000 BTU cooling put it that way. If your looking to cool a larger room your going to need something much bigger.. unless you go for a small one like me and basically sit next to it !

Ok, thanks....the basic calculation (room size in feet l x h x d x 5 = BTU rating) suggests over 9000 BTU for our lounge so will check out options...

My room is about 3M square, Thats BTU: 3600-4325... no way ~5000 BTU would cool the room. 9000 is losing the battle already.

Yeah, not sure the formula is intended to allow for hottest ever days ;)
