Pretty sure we have a deal then 😁exxos wrote: 03 Jan 2026 20:24Ok, I'll have to see when I get home.. But the PI and board + heatsinks likely ended up near 100.. But I'd accept 50 as its you ;)

Re: What to do with my spare Raspberry Pi's
Someone with deep CPLD/Verilog magic need to help with the project as the current person is struggling. With some ST chipsets it's sort of working some of the time but a lot of the arbitration states are not fully implemented or not implemented at all. It seems to be hitting timing latency issues.mrbombermillzy wrote: 03 Jan 2026 14:15I'd be very interested to see if you can get this running on the ST Phil. IIRC @stephen_usher had a go, but it didnt quite work out.PhilC wrote: 02 Jan 2026 17:23 Well I've got most of the Raspberry Pi's sorted or sold.
I've got a PiStorm for an Amiga and an ST to build...
I think someone needs to properly crack this one for the Atari. :)
The PiStorm only really works well on the Amiga because the CPU doesn't have to worry about bus arbitration as all the peripherals are hidden behind the custom chips, and it's the bus arbitration which is the hard and time critical bit.

ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Yeah I suspect the pi is only just coping with the Amiga as its simpler and 7MHz. The multiplex buses doesn't help. It needs something with more IO capabilities and a faster core imo.stephen_usher wrote: 03 Jan 2026 23:17 The PiStorm only really works well on the Amiga because the CPU doesn't have to worry about bus arbitration as all the peripherals are hidden behind the custom chips, and it's the bus arbitration which is the hard and time critical bit.

Re: What to do with my spare Raspberry Pi's
The current Atari PiStorm code requires a Pi4 at least and when it does work the speed is only marginally faster than an ST536.
A lot of the arbitration is being attempted in the CPLD if you look in the code.

Re: What to do with my spare Raspberry Pi's
Had an MT-32 PI hat arrive the other day, and after a bit of configuration it's running 😁
From my PoV the main thing I had to do to get it running was enable the display and invert it. I only used inversion as I wanted the power and audio cables coming out of the back.
Will need to test the midi stuff next.

Was it easy to setup? Not had much timer stuff like that at the moment.rubber_jonnie wrote: 13 Jan 2026 12:34 Had an MT-32 PI hat arrive the other day, and after a bit of configuration it's running 😁

Yeah you copy the files over to a Fat32 formatted SD card and then drop the Mt-32 ROMs into the ROMs folder.PhilC wrote: 13 Jan 2026 14:07Was it easy to setup? If you want soundfonts add them to the folder of the same name.
After that it's walking through the config file in the root to set up for your own specific PI Hat. Also there is a WiFi file in the root you can use to connect to your network.
Once connected it has an ftp service so you can upload files as required.
The install guide on GitHub tells you all you need to know.

Re: What to do with my spare Raspberry Pi's
Of course I need to test it out further and make sure the midi and sound output works, but it's a good start.

I'm just happy that it seems to install without issues :lol:rubber_jonnie wrote: 13 Jan 2026 15:29Of course I need to test it out further and make sure the midi and sound output works, but it's a good start.
In other news, I'm putting one of my Pi4s into my 500+ with a Pistorm and Frame Thrower. I'll have to remove the Ethernet socket and two of the USB sockets first on the Pi4 though.
