OK, so I have an original BlueSCSI, in fact I have 2, one in my Acrchimemdes A5000 the other in my Mac Classic. Assuming BlueSCSI 2 works in mostly the same manner, it's a question of creating blank disk images and dropping them onto the SD card, then booting up and treating them like normal HDDs. I use DD on my Mac to create the image files I use.Glorfindeal wrote: 17 Jun 2024 12:13 I would like more details on the BlusSCSI v2. They are on ebay now for sale. Do we have to format/partition the SD card? Is that card Mac or windows compatible for file copying? Do we have verified reports of working with the Falcon? What is the wifi option.
Trying to find an option for a non-working ide buss.
Thanks,
Ken

Re: BlueSCSI 2 query
Is there a way to copy files directly to the images or can. you make an image that consist for files? Also, what if you want to add files to the image at a later date?

Re: BlueSCSI 2 query
I expect you could mount the images and add files that way, but I just made blank images, then prepped and ran installs to the blank disks like you would with real hardware.Glorfindeal wrote: 17 Jun 2024 13:50 Is there a way to copy files directly to the images or can. you make an image that consist for files? Bear in mind that the drive will need to be prepped for the O/S you're going to use, so simply copying files over won't necessarily 'just work'.

You can make an image in Hatari and then copy that image over to the SD card.Glorfindeal wrote: 17 Jun 2024 13:50 Is there a way to copy files directly to the images or can. you make an image that consist for files? Also, what if you want to add files to the image at a later date?

Re: BlueSCSI 2 query
Hi all
I'm pretty sure I'm being stuipid here, and I'm missing something obvious.
I set up my SD card with an image that works perfectly and is partitioned with one TOS partition, one EXT2 partition, and one FAT32.
I've just finished installing the Mint networking stuff and am looking at the Wifi options.
The documenation says: Create a new text file in the root of your SD card and name it bluescsi.ini
Problem is, when I plug in my SD card to a Mac or a Windows machine I now can't access the card as the first partition is TOS only.
I could change that partition to make it Windows compatible but (from memory) it would then mount the partition, but this isn't the root of the card.
How do I get to access the drive with just the directory listing showing the hda image file instead of trying to mount it?
Or am I completely wrong in my approach?
Cheers,
Simon

Re: BlueSCSI 2 query
Completely wrong approach. You don't burn the Atari image to the SD card. You simply copy the image (drag and drop) to an exfat formatted SD card.
This is the beauty of the system is how you can have multiple disk images. You don't even need separate partitions on your single Atari hard disk anymore (if you don't want/need) You could simply have multiple entirely separate hard disks (image files) on different SCSI IDs, on the PiSCSI.
Also the BlueSCSI.ini should be automatically created I think.

Re: BlueSCSI 2 query
Hi Steve
That’s exactly what I did, created the image file and copied it to the SD card.
Then I set up partitions within that image file using hddriver - was that the wrong thing to so?
Cheers, Simon

Re: BlueSCSI 2 query
I'm totally confused because you said this:
Your SD card should have two files on it.. bluescsi.ini and the image file.hda
(Just ignore what I said about not needing partitions I obviously am confusing matters)
That only happens if you burn/write the image to the SD card.Problem is, when I plug in my SD card to a Mac or a Windows machine I now can't access the card as the first partition is TOS only.

Re: BlueSCSI 2 query
First off, the way you've written this it sounds like you have partitioned the SD card, or you've taken the image made under Hatari and written it to the SD card. The SD card should simply be formatted to work under your Windows machine (Assuming you're using Windows, so either FAT32 or exFAT, whatever BlueSCSI expects). The image file you've created is simply copied to the SD card not written to the card from your image. As @Steve said, just drag and drop the image onto the SD card where you'll end up with the .ini file and the hda image, nothing fancy, and don't write the image to the SD card, there is a big difference between copying the file to the card and writing it to the card.smoore100 wrote: 24 Jun 2024 01:38

Once you have your HDA file on the root of SD card just create the BluSeCSI.ini file next to it in the root of the SD card. You don't need to create the BlueSCSI.ini in the root of your image file, just on the SD card.smoore100 wrote: 24 Jun 2024 01:38 I could change that partition to make it Windows compatible but (from memory) it would then mount the partition, but this isn't the root of the card.

Re: BlueSCSI 2 query
This is all you should see on the SD card when you're done:
Simple as that.
Obviously that is my HDA file, and yours may be slightly differently named as long as it follows the naming convention specified here: BlueSCSI usage
If you've done anything differently then you are wide of the mark.
