Okay, as I've mentioned multiple times, I'm horrible with schematics, except for the blindingly obvious.
So, if possible, I really need some information on the STacy's (inside view) external monitor port.
Can someone look at the schematics and please tell me what 1, 2, 3, and 4 are? I'm pretty sure that
there's a horizontal sync, vertical sync and maybe audio? I'm not sure what the last one would be and
I'm not sure about which is which.
Thanks all, appreciated. :)

Re: STacy external monitor port?
hello,
Here is a map of the pins soldered on the motherboard, seen from above your motherboard :
Hope this help.
EDIT : this is taken from my 260/520ST conversion under Kicad, and it's the same for the STe, and I assume also on the STacy.

Thanks for that. I guess I'll just have to figure out how that translates
to the 4 numbers in the picture I posted above.

- Audio out
- Composite video
- GPO
- Mono Monitor detect.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

I'm still confused though. How is this STacy owner on Facebook getting Hsync and Vsync from Pin 1 and Pin 4
for his RGB2HDMI installation in this picture?

Re: STacy external monitor port?
Maybe I'm just looking at this all wrong. Here is the section from the RGB2HDMI github,
showing what's needed for the ST. I need to figure out where to hook up Hsync, Vsync
and Blank from the 12 bit buffer board to the STacy somewhere...

Hard to say without knowing exactly what the other guy on Facebook did…Darklord wrote: 06 Jun 2024 21:55Thanks, appreciated.stephen_usher wrote: 06 Jun 2024 21:47

Definitely not getting Hsync and Vsync from pins 1 and 4
They are on 9 and 12
Just an idea:
If he wants to insert Audio into HDMI (behind RGB2HDMI) he needs the Audio signal (Pin 1)
If he wants to switch between Mono and Colour from outside the computer he needs access to the Mono detect signal at Pin 4 (pulling this to GND switches to Mono)
So I assume (if it is really 1 and 4) these two signals are not used for the RGB2HDMI itself, but for additional purposes
If this is 9 and 12, all is good :D
Exactly, these are the signals you need to input into RGB2HDMIDarklord wrote: 06 Jun 2024 22:08 Maybe I'm just looking at this all wrong. Here is the section from the RGB2HDMI github,

I do not have the STacy schematics at hand, but Hsync/Vsync/Blank should be somewhere… :D
Edit: checked the schematics… close to the shifter there should be three diodes (D7, D8, D9) - where they connect is Blank
Cheers

Re: STacy external monitor port?
My problem is that I suck vacuum hard at reading schematics, unless they are
overwhelmingly obvious. That's just truth.
I've got another picture from another STacy owner who installed the RGB2HDMI
mod, and it makes more sense but it's not exactly clear either. Unfortunately,
when I inquired further, he said that he had already closed everything up and
wasn't sure about the connections.
If I zoom in on that picture, I can almost see what's happening. I'll attach it. I
labeled it and I think I've followed the 3 wires correctly.

Re: STacy external monitor port?
He’s obviously designed a board which fits into the Shifter socket and extracts the signals from there and the Shifter then plugs into his board on top.

Oh, that's a kit you can buy complete now. You don't have to do all the lines in the previous versions.stephen_usher wrote: 07 Jun 2024 07:06 He’s obviously designed a board which fits into the Shifter socket and extracts the signals from there and the Shifter then plugs into his board on top.
It's down to just 3 wires, Blank, Hsync, and Vsync. Once you figure out where they go, of course.
