Well, busy day. First sorting out the battery in my wife's car. Halfords were great and even gave me an upgraded replacement as they didn't have the same one in stock, and no fuss, no messing, just replaced under warranty.

Then I had to get some keys cut, something I'd been putting off for a while. Then it was time for some more building!!!

This time it was the casework :)

This is me getting started after finishing peeling the plastic and paper off the laser cut acrylic parts, one of my least favourite things to do.

Firstly sub assemblies:

Eventually putting everything together into one whole case:

Then adding in the front panel exectronics:

And finally finishing off with the final flourish of the front trim panel:

It's not a bad analogue of the original:

Though obviously smaller and without the metal case.

Very happy with the results so far, but while it is technically usable, I am still waiting on the expansion board PCB that was missing from my kit (All the other parts were there though) and it's in transit, so I will do a build of that and install separately when it arrives

I'm determined to program it from the front panel, even just something tiny, so need to do some research :)

Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Do worry not, my fellow forum member !

Well, if she ever becomes wife 1.0 and enters the beta testing phase, you may need to adjust your expectations 🤣

To be fair, my wife is pretty flexible, and if I get an annual bonus from work I am always able to spend a portion of it. Personally I do have an inbuilt gauge about what I think is too much, so it works pretty well 😁
