I took my car to the garage today for what I thought was a grumbling bearing in the alternator, power steering or air conditioning pump. They just called to say it isn't any of those. They are still diagnosing but might be the clutch release bearing (if it is then I just live with it) or the clutch itself.

If it turns out to be the clutch/flywheel then I won't be able to make it this weekend. I'll keep you updated.

Sadly not :(

https://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-produ ... -l820.html

The only other thing I can think for audio is to just have someone with a posh mobile phone that can just put it on stage or whatever  but I certainly wouldn't depend on my footage being anything usable
What type card does it take?
Its a SD card. Just actually found a 32GB one but the camera only recognises it as 16GB anyway  I have found a couple more 16GB cards. Though if anything goes longer than 29mins, I will have to swap the card.
Also, does it have/run from a PSU? In which case, you can leave it plugged in charging and just use the battery power for any moving around the hall recording (30 mins worth).
It does have a 5V PSU input, but the connector is something bizarre by the looks of it  .

I'll make sure my best batteries are fully charged..

I'll bring my smaller cam for general pictures anyway.

I probably shan't be exhibiting, but I'll bring along some bits and bobs (spare PCBs in case anyone's interested in them, camera gear, laptop etc), so would like a little bit of table space set aside just in case (or at the very worst to work on the laptop on).

Happy to go on the end of one of the sharers' tables, or perhaps I could sneak onto the end of @exxos' bench if he's not using it all now?

Cheers,

That sucks :(

I remember when I used to go to Corby for the Tesla coil events that my clutch was failing on the car. Just sooooooo much stopping and starting all the time it got red-hot and started slipping when it wasn't supposed to   . I was with two other lads at the time and one said don't worry we don't need the clutch anyway... Then about 10 minutes later I said the brakes are overheating as they are not working now either... He said we don't need breaks.. is why I only go for vented brake discs now even though I don't really go very fast these days. I also go for the best grip tyres. Always useful to have a good grip in the rain when you have to slam your brakes on!

I plan on bringing my camcorder and phone. My camera has a (hacked) jack for a self-powered condenser mic, but I don't have a shotgun or similar. My plan was to leave a phone recording the sound on stage and run the camera from further back lining up the audio through the magic of guesswork. :)

Should be good for an hour and half or so, I'd have thought.

I assume there is a stage, I don't remember, but I guess if they give me a table close to the stage then it could act as a overspill area.. I doubt Dawn will be wondering about much so she could keep an eye on stuff anyway.

I am only bringing my 2600 to setup anyway plus a few games.

Great. Thanks for the confirm.

Also, I forgot to thank you for the YT shout out for the show, so thank you for that.

I guess if @exxos is ok with you squatting on his patch, you will have it all to yourself for a bit (as he is coming a bit later, I think?)

What happened to wanting 'a dark corner'? :hide:

Sure, so note to myself, @exxos near the stage. :)

With that in mind, what sort of AV gear are we lacking from the stage? Any ideas about the setup here @PhilC?

Cracking! I'll manspread all over his table early doors and give him the right hump if I get the chance, then.

I'll have the little one in tow so in reality I doubt I'll be much of an early bird either. So should work out alright, if that's OK with you, @exxos?

Also, if we're both recording the presentation hopefully we can get a decent representation of things between us.
