Good afternoon All.
I can now confirm that Cyber Legends V2.0 will now take place on Sunday 8th October 11am till 8pm. It will be held at the Weston Favell Parish Hall.
The address and a map can be found on https://www.wfph.co.uk/contact-us/
There will be a small entry fee of £5 on the door or £10 for your entry fee and to be entered into the raffle to win a nice retro item (see below). The entry fee is mainly to help to recoup costs of running the event, with any extra going to charity. The hall cost is £200 plus a £100 deposit for those that are interested. For those that may wish to donate but can’t make it on the day, your donation will also enter you in to the raffle. Please PM me for donation details.
The raffle prize will be a very nice boxed Commodore C64C.
There will be tea and coffee available on the day and there are also shops and a shopping centre just down the road for further meals and refreshments.
There are a couple of competitions to enter on the day.:
Best & Worst fully working computer demonstrated on the day. (some might say the competition for the worst is greater than the best :D)
See here for further details
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=6432
Best retro gamer of the day (probably pong or space invaders etc, just deciding on the final game choice)
Now the hall is booked there will be a few things I'll need a hand with but here’s what we’ve got so far:
Those wishing to exhibit a computer, whether to sell or show, please let me know as soon as possible. There are 15 6 foot long tables in the hall so space will be on a first come first served basis but we may be able to bring more tables if we know in advance.
Advertising of the day, do you know any YouTubers or websites that will kindly advertise the event for us.
We have a couple of guest speakers but is this something you would like to do as well? Do you want to do a talk about anything? About a machine you've fixed, a bit of software you've written etc?
Are you able to help with setting up and putting stuff away on the day?
Can you contribute a prize for the raffle or competitions?
Can you all please make sure that the equipment you bring such as power leads and extension leads is in a good condition.
And anything else that I've forgotten.
What we have Already:
The hall is booked as mentioned previously.
So as mentioned earlier there are chairs and a few tables available for use during the day.
We have a couple of the competition prizes sorted now but if you'd like to contribute a prize then please let me know.
I'll sort out some tea and coffee, milk etc on the day.
I've just created a poll on this page so you can select if you are able to come and if you will be exhibiting anything.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the day.
PLEASE KEEP CHECKING THIS POST FOR UPDATED INFORMATION
P.S. please do share this flyer on Facebook or other forums to help publicise the day.

I'll be there.
Not sure what I'll bring yet but I'll pat it with my hand and see if it still works afterward... and whether I get a shock. That's correct pat testing isn't it?
To be honest, and STFMs without their internal top shield would fail electrical safety as the PSU is exposed without an earthed shield over the top.

Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

What you don't know won't hurt you. I'll give it to a friend called Pat to test.stephen_usher wrote: 19 Jun 2023 15:13 I'll be there.

In the diary :yay:
How about inviting some UK based retro 'shops' (Even EU based if they want to travel) such as Retro Lemon, Retro Passion, Monster Joysticks etc. ?
As Exxos wasn't there in person last time how about an Exxos 'store' on his behalf, i'm sure there's alot of stuff i don't need that I could buy if it was in front of me :ugeek:
Once the flyer is available even a shout out to Retro Gamer or probably more suited Pixel Addict mags to include in their 'Upcoming Event's' section.

Thanks for the suggestions @jwd. I'm hoping someone will kidnap exxos and bring him along to the event :D
With regard to publicising the event I'd not have a clue who to ask about doing that and may need you guys help with that.
Please do check back for post 1 on this topic as I will keep tweaking it to add new details, flyers etc.
Some thoughts on one of the challenges, how about a best demo written in basic competition? :D That should render some amusing and original results?

Yeah it's a great opportunity for stores to open a stall, plus it also attracts people to the event in my opinion.
I'll definitely come, haven't decided on what I'm doing yet though.

Nice one. See you there then. ;)
In that case, we first need to look at the capacity and who is actually wanting to exhibit their private machines/software/etc, so it doesn't end up unevenly balanced.jwd wrote: 19 Jun 2023 16:25 How about inviting some UK based retro 'shops' (Even EU based if they want to travel) such as Retro Lemon, Retro Passion, Monster Joysticks etc. ?

I did try to get a few high brow online retro gaming news sites to notice last years event. However, if anyone has any contacts in this department, we can sure use that help. :) I don't have FB/twitter/reddit/smartphone/etc, so I'm probably not the best choice in this department. :lol:jwd wrote: 19 Jun 2023 16:25 Once the flyer is available even a shout out to Retro Gamer or probably more suited Pixel Addict mags to include in their 'Upcoming Event's' section.

You can always just turn up Steve. :)
I would be tempted to turn up just to spectate if I wasn't involved in the organising/planning of it.
