@BrettRogersUK ill give that test firmware a go too just to see what the different chips I have come up with.

Re: Detecting Fake BluePills - BEWARE
@PhilC Out of interest I tried that diagnostic software after @olivier.jan suggested it, and it didn't work at all for mine, again casting doubt on mine despite Blinky working.BrettRogersUK wrote: 11 Aug 2023 16:22I was wondering if I could do this with mine. Just get some REAL STM32 ICs from somewhere like RS components and swap them onto the PCB. As @rubber_jonnie said, it just depends on if there are any changes in the PCB design or not.PhilC wrote: 11 Aug 2023 16:00 @rubber_jonnie thats what I was wondering too but we will try and see what happens
Be interesting to see the results.
On another note, I have seen this site offered up to verify blue pill devices as being genuine or fake:
https://mecrisp-stellaris-folkdoc.sourc ... 1.640.html
This was referenced on another issue on the ACSI2STM github issues page.
It seemed to flash ok, but then didn't do what was suggested it should when I followed the instructions. I'm interested to see how others fare with it.

@rubber_jonnie that second program does work for all but one of mine which is the smaller chip anyway.
Mine all fail that test oo, so I'll try a bit of soldering next.

So I’ve changed two STMs over, one worked and one didn’t, the first one has a read error, so I’ll Google that later and see what’s going on there but the second one passes both tests, so it’s certainly possible with this board to swap the chips

And the first one that failed, I removed that chip and soldered on another and that board works too, I'll try the others over the next few days.

Nice work! Did you have to hot air the old chip off or was it just soldering iron + wick?

Re: Detecting Fake BluePills - BEWARE
I got it off with hot air as its much quicker, then refluxed the pads and applied solder paste and put the new one on with hot air. I'd have used a heated bed if it wasn't for all the components on the bottom of the board.elterwater wrote: 12 Aug 2023 19:42 Nice work! Thanks for confirming, no hot air gun here so looks like I'd have to do this the hard way :D
