It's ok Phil. I think once I install nusb33e, I should get some joy from the USB ports, regarding USB memory sticks.
I've just found my original Quake CD, installed it, and it runs better than I thought...as long as I don't go 640x400 or above  The native resolution on the HMD is around 320x200 anyway.
Not too bad for a non 3d accelerated card (so no GL or D3D games) doing SW rendering.
Will try Dark Forces too, as I came across that in my little hunt earlier. Hopefully I find the stereo 3d patch for that online. But that's for another day. Have to wind things up for tonight.

Re: The journey towards Cyber Legends 2.0
I loved quake back in the day. It looked awesome with high resolution, but noone had a gfx card that could handle it  Think I had a matrox mystique 4MB back then. Bought it at a pc show secondhand I think. I was poor back then and my pc was built from junk basically   All those IRQ jumpers to mess with to get the sound to work with the gfx card :pullhair: Then one day giving up and buying a new motherboard with interrupt sharing.. was like the best thing ever!

Re: The journey towards Cyber Legends 2.0
@exxos My first PC (bought at a computer auction; the same one that a few months later I would buy this exact VR setup incidentally) was a Cyrix 686 based system.
After a while Unreal came out and I thought I'd have to upgrade.
At the time, I had enough money for a (then 2nd from the top) P2 266MMX system with 32Mb RAM. The RAM amount was low and I'd run out of funds for a 3D card, so it was choppy as hell. Eventually I was able to buy a Voodoo2. My god! Going from SW rendering to a Voodoo 2 was a real life changing moment. (It was still a bit choppy, because the Voodoo card was £2-300 so I still couldn't afford extra RAM).
Eventually, I got an extra 32MB and all was well.....for a while. You know how it goes.
EDIT: I do remember some cards had non standard IRQ DMA or address ranges which mucked things up. Was telling the missrs just yesterday that installing a game on DOS, you would setup the sound by testing it out on certain settings. If you heard sound, then all was well, otherwise it would lock up the system. Seemed so normal back then.

Re: The journey towards Cyber Legends 2.0
Success!
Thanks to the great Internet Archive, Ive managed to locate the original i-glasses CD! :)
Looking in the Drivers folder we have:
and in the Games folder:
So that means either tracker or stereoscopic drivers for:
Dark Forces, Descent, Doom. Heretic and MechWarrior 2, to name a few.
There are also some demo programs to showcase the HMD in another folder. This is just what I was after!
:girldance: :girldance: :girldance:
Can hopefully get some of this cranked up later tonight to test. Then its the laptop USB and other bits left to do.
I will try to avoid spending 16+ hours on Descent, like I did when I first bought one of these HMDs (around 1999)!
