Probably MOT.. I don't think I even started testing the freescale stamped ones yet. Theres no difference between them anyway. Which CPUs come with this batch? the one pictured here or the older Motorola badged ones?

DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests

Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
I’ve just noticed that the Atari Falcon 50MHz DFB1X booster is now out of stock. Should have bought the last one yesterday when I saw the stocks were low. Will these ever be made again, or should I just grab the bare bones board?
Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
There might be a couple in the overspill stock. I'll check on Monday.kgilmore wrote: Sat Oct 10, 2026 1:35 pm I’ve just noticed that the Atari Falcon 50MHz DFB1X booster is now out of stock. Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
There are 5 DFB1X left. I'll put them on stock later today.
Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
Given how many boards you had made, this is remarkable. Bravo zulu!

Yeah seems to be a slow constant trickle of them still. Thats a "hot sale" in Atari land these days .Badwolf wrote: Tue Oct 13, 2026 2:11 pm Given how many boards you had made, this is remarkable. Bravo zulu!
Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
A slight blunder, a good one in fact. There was 5 in stock already even though stock said 0. I must have forgot to have updated the stock level at some point..
Anyway, there's now 10 DFB1X in stock
As a side note. If a new batch is done again, prices may go up, as parts are forever getting harder and more expensive as time goes on.

Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
Just a qq on this, one of @Badwolf recent videos he was popping his DFB1 in and out of his Falcon and he stated the problem about having the FPU in place with DFB1.
Nothing was mentioned about the ROM though, can the ROM remain on the motherboard with DFB1 and not with DBFX1 ?

Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
You should really take the ROM out on the DFB1. Technically if you have the same TOS version on flash and ROM you could get away with it.But the ROM is only there to allow you to boot and flash the flash. I don't really remember the exact configuration on the DFB1 anymore.jwd wrote: Tue Oct 13, 2026 6:56 pm Nothing was mentioned about the ROM though, can the ROM remain on the motherboard with DFB1 and not with DBFX1 ?
Previously I just recommend removing the ROM. But on V105 firmware there's a bodge wire you can fit so the onboard ROM is disabled when running from flash. Then when the DFB1X is disabled, it auto enables the onboard ROM. It solves all the issues in removing the ROM.. but at the expense of a bodge wire..
It also allows the blitter to work, I don't believe DFB1 had that support. But it would give a black square instead of the Fuji on boot IIRC. I tried to avoid that as with a production unit, I didn't want everyone who not read the instructions to complain it was faulty because of the black square. So I solved all combinations of a issues with a bodge wire.
See section "FIRMWARE V105 MODIFICATION"
https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/atari/last/DFB1X/index.htm
So that solves all the problems anyway.

DFB1, leave the ROM in place but remove the FPU.jwd wrote: Tue Oct 13, 2026 6:56 pm Just a qq on this, one of @Badwolf recent videos he was popping his DFB1 in and out of his Falcon and he stated the problem about having the FPU in place with DFB1.

DFB1X, remove both FPU and ROM. Or leave in the ROM, and do some soldering.
Different design philosophies on the ROM. Possible oversight on the FPU, so remove to be safe.
