DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests

As I'm getting close to finishing the DFB1 updates I thought I would see how many are interested in buying one.

They will be sold basically complete aside from the FPU and CPU. But both can be obtained from my store. Possible fully tested boards can be done as well.

I'm affraid I have no idea how much they will cost. It's probably not going to be good with the PLD costing £50 a pop for starters. I would have to guess they could end up being around £200-250 mark. Obviously the more made the better.

Once I get an idea how many people are interested, then I have a better number to get quoted for. I think a first batch of about 25 would be a good figure to work with.

I should point out declaring interest does not reserve you a board. It is just purely for me to gauge interest on what size of a production to do. When they go into the store , it will literally be on a "first-come first-served" basis.

Dave's booster is really impressive and seems to be a good alternative to the CT60, but with components price increase, its expected final price is getting close to a bare CT60 price tag...

I don't know which booster folks would prefer, but performance wise I would personally opt for the CT60.

IMHO, the birdseed solution would appear as a safer solution for you.

Think I'd be in for one.
Testing the stock Falcon at 30MHz bus speed provided a nice baseline to make decisions for a decent alternative to a CT/SV for those of us with a single SV, NOVA, and less than 4 CT's :mrgreen:
When I'd initially purchased processors for when Dave first began work, bought a PGA 50MHz 68882.
I suppose asking for a PGA board would be a bit daft.

@HigashiJun Regarding CT60, check out bare 060 full cpu prices.. Secondly you will have to modify original case.

Completely agree for MC68060 prices... They are becoming insane.

As for your second statement, I totally disagree: my CT60 is fitted in my Falcon without any modification to the case.

CT60 It's a lot faster and a lot more expensive and more bulky. The DFB1 is smaller and cheaper and not as fast no.

I personally would prefer a DFB1 in my falcon. But I don't think we should start comparing the 2 here. There has been no booster for the falcon other than the CT60 for a long time. I think finally having something else is a good thing. If there isn't interest then fair enough, I won't produce it.

I'm not a big fan of Pico PSUs and that is why I have an internal solution, so my Falcon looks like a stock one from outside.

I guess you will have persons interested in this project anyway. As you wrote, having something else is a good thing.

I was only giving my opinion, 'cause if I can afford a Falcon I can also afford a complete CT60 (and that's what I did).

Saying that, I was very happy with my MC68030 CPU based Amiga booster and its FPU until I switched for the excellent TF1260...

Well I am interested! I do have a CT60e, however I have since come around to the idea that it would be nice to keep the Falcon on an 030 but accelerated. BTW it doesn't mean I am getting rid of my CT60e, well not anytime soon. ;)
