Over the years a lot of posts have had attachments uploaded but never placed inline, so phpBB shows them in its separate attachment box under the post. They still work fine, but placing them inline displays them properly as part of the post and looks a lot neater.
So I'm running a tidy-up script through older posts. It does two things:
- Any attachments that weren't placed inline are placed inline at the end of the post, so they stay in the same place, just displayed properly. Attachments that were already inline are left exactly where they are.
- Tidies the spacing around images and attachments so they don't sit right up against the text.
Where attachments had to be placed inline, a short moderator note is added to the post explaining what was done, with a link to the how-to guide. The notes will naturally fade back out of posts over time, so they won't end up causing clutter. You may get a notification that one of your posts has been edited, or notice "last edited" showing on some of your older posts. Nothing about the content of your post has been changed, so there's no need to worry about it.
It's mainly to bring it to everyone's attention for future posts. Once you've uploaded a file, click "Place inline" next to it so it appears in the post where you want it, rather than being left in the attachment box. The guide is here: How to place attachments inline
