Slopifying Unix (Atari System V for TT+)

I've started the task of adding some drivers and updating the UniSoft port of Unix to the Atari TT. I've currently had claude add network drivers for the DaynaPort SCSI (via my ZuluSCSI card). It whipped up a framebuffer driver for the ATW800/2, and is now compiling and going to install X11R6.3 from the Amix project, along with OpenLook.

I'm hoping to also add more hardware support, like getting it working on the Falcon, with an 060, SuperVidel, etc. I also believe I'll be able to access and utilize the Transputers for some fun things.

One thing I should ask people... how hard is it to upgrade my ST RAM card to handle 10mb of RAM? Claude pointed out that the Unix kernel does some book keeping on memory chunks, and so saves out so many bytes per kb of memory (I think it was like 80 bytes per 4kb?) and with the 256mb TT RAM, the 4mb of ST RAM is filled up, so Claude had to cap the memory (I think I could have done 128mb, but as a compromise, it settled on 96mb, so I have ~100mb. I'll have to see if I can get around that at some point, but it'd be nice to get my 2mb card upgraded.

Nice! AI is definitely opening up possibilities that before would have taken people months, even years to develop. I am expecting an explosion of rejuvenation within the ST world with this new era.

Depends if you have the SMD RAM varient or not. If it's SMD you simply use a heatgun to swap the memory chips and then change a jumper. The through-hole version is more difficult and requires a special daughter-board designed by Lynxman.

What's really funny? It comes with telnet... so as soon as it finished writing the network driver (which was awful to deal with, since I had to keep swapping the SD Card over to the ZuluSCSI, have it boot up, take a picture of the errors, send it to the Claude app, shutdown the TT (cleanly, so 'shutdown -y -g0 -i0', yup, memorized that one fast), and then move it to the laptop so Claude could modify some stuff... then back to the TT and wait the few minutes it takes to boot..., take some more screenshots...

Talking to the people working on updating Amix, and they had a cross compiler, which is making things much easier than having Claude telnet in and compile things on a 32mhz computer...

Yeah definitely through-hole, you'd need to contact Lynxman on the German Atari forum, he might still be selling the upgrade PCB's.
