Exxosforum turns 9

Post by exxos »

Nine years old this weekend. Born 16th August 2017 at 11:19pm, for anyone who likes their history precise. What started as a small spot to support a few hardware projects has turned into something a lot bigger than I expected, and that's down to the people who actually use the place, not me.

This past year alone has had more interesting builds, ports, fixes and daft ideas turn up than I could ever list, and that's exactly what makes a forum worth having. So thank you, genuinely, to everyone who has ever posted a question, shared a fix, shown off a build, or just hung around and kept the place interesting.

Thanks as well to the moderators and admins, quietly keeping the wheels turning, chasing spam and sorting reports while I'm off somewhere soldering something. And thank you to the sponsors who help cover the server and hardware costs behind the scenes. None of you get anywhere near enough credit for keeping the lights on.

Go on then, tell us. Favourite topic, favourite post, favourite bit of hardware you've picked up along the way, whatever it is that makes this place worth turning up to, stick it in the replies.

Nine years in and still full of people who care about old computers more than is probably healthy. Here's to the next lot.

:cheers: :2k2:

Congratulations and keep up the great work - now you have time on your hands, get your pistorm out and try the latest JIT powered stuff. There's even a SD card image to make life a little easier. Self promotion out of the way :) Happy Birthday Exxos Forum

I was a 'late' joiner - 28th Aug IIRC & probably only when I saw the announcement on the 'old' site .. :roll:

It's been a great journey so far, hope to actually get the time free from other tasks to spend on my hobbies at some point.

Long may this forum continue and prosper.

Thanks to all the team for creating this friendly, supportive and informative forum!

Only 9?!

It's definitely made a mark over those 9 years.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.
