A new (and proud) owner of ATW800/2

Post by damanloox »

Hello,

I still remember an article from one of the "computer magazines" in late 80's proudly presenting Atari Transputer Workstation and I still remember the "wow" factor and 17 years old me dreaming about having one of those (I had a brand new 520ST at that time and my old beloved 130XE...). Those kind of dreams made me follow computer science degree etc...

Anyway - 36 years later my dream just came true - ATW800/2 (will be paired with Mega STE) is one the way to me!
Can't wait to install this beauty and play with it. My main goal is to play with the "transputer side" of it (although HDMI is such a great addition!) - just need to find reasonably priced TRAM (or a pair)... And I hope the quest for having one will not take another 36 years :)

Thanks @geekdot - you made (one of) my dreams come true :)

That's great! I am also a fan of the project. I am quite experienced with it so if you have any questions let me know.

Be aware there are actually two graphics drivers you can choose from:
1. xVDI - a custom driver supporting hardware acceleration
1. NVDI (with modified ET4000 driver) - a stock driver which basically acts as an ET4000

Latest xVDI drivers are here: https://nextcloud.geekdot.com/s/jt4fYYa ... ers%2FXVDI
Latest NVDI drivers are here: https://nextcloud.geekdot.com/s/jt4fYYa ... ers%2FNVDI

Everything else, including Helios will be found in the online software archive: https://nextcloud.geekdot.com/s/jt4fYYa ... p?path=%2F

Just be sure to always use the latest versions of everything.

Mine is in my MSTE and runs a treat, but I need to upgrade the XVDI driver.

I had fun and games getting Helios to work with multiple T425s, and it turned out to be a bad file copy, so just be aware that it may go wonky and you just need to try again.

I can copy over my Helios directory if you need it.

I would recommend you download the Helios directly from the software repo, and if you require any multi-transputer configuration files, grabbing them from Jon.
