Supposedly it'll be here by Wednesday, so I'd better get reading up on the repair threads by @stephen_usher and @PhilC

Hopefully you'll only need the keys and joystick bits and the rest will work okay.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

There's a 99% chance that you'll need a new keyboard membrane. You can get one from RWAP Services on "SellMyRetro".
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

It's pretty much as described and brought a bit of Egypt with it in terms of dust/sand/small stones!!!

Looking at the edge connectors I'm not convinced that it's had an easy life, and I'm expecting corrosion once I open it up. It definitely has seen moisture during it's life.

I need to get the G7000 of the workbench before I can get cracking though and still don't have a cartridge to test with...

Might just reassemble it and get on with the Enterprise.

All part of an archeological dig to find the last screw of Rameses!!!

The other screws are out but this is the last one.

My feelings about moisture and possible submersion are expanding based on the rusty screws:

Need to try and find a longer screwdriver that will fit as this one is in a very deep hole.

OK, so I ended up having to drill the final screw out, it was just too corroded, but it did come out nice and easily and my drill went through dead centre with no damage other than to the screw :)

More dirt suggesting a possible flood, but all very dry. I'll need to get everything in hot soapy water to get all the crud off.

Despite the presence of Nile silt, I think the mainboard looks OK-ish:

And I think this is because the scratches on the case suggest it was stored upside down, so whatever washed through the case caught in the top and not on top of the board.

Unfortunately this meant the bottom of the board caught it:

Edge connectors are quite corroded, however they are still there and I believe they will clean up fine.

One last thing is the keyboard membrane. it actually looks OK. Wether it is or not is another question, but I've got a fair bit of work to do before I can verify that.

Guess I need to chuck the case in hot soapy water and give it a good old soak and blast all the dust off the mainboard to get a peek at what it looks like before I decide how to clean it.

One thing. It looks way bigger in the pictures than it is in real life :)
