Hello from the land of haggis and kilts.

Post by Marcopolomint1 »

Hi all, should have done this before I posted but better late than never.

I'll start at a suitable beginning. Got my first STFM aged 12 and it was the coolest thing i'd ever seen. It did a good stint until I was about 21! It got a completely botched 1mb upgrade as i'd never soldered before, so my little STFM if you're out there and still working, well done!! (oh also had a 2600 prior to my ST)

I Graduated in Aerospace Engineering and served my time (17 years) in aerospace and defence working on missile guidance, laser targeting, radar and electro-optics as an industrial design engineer. Stopped making WMD's and moved to a more peaceful job in Product design anything from medical to consumer devices. Did an 8 year stint in that. Now work in Space telecoms and satellite tech. I had a hobby business for 8 years on top of that designing ultra high power bike lights for mountain biking like downhill, trail and technical stuff. have a look at "Full beam Night nemesis" and "full beam Fusion".

Hobbies are footie (playing), I design telescopes for astronomy, bit of Karate, some mountain biking. recently started Atari 2600 coding (DASM) but that's going horribly. It's the programming version of BDSM, don't know why anyone would put themselves through this torture even though there's something ticklingly exciting about getting a spaceship to fly across a screen....

yesterday I took delivery of an STE in superb (almost mint) condition so very excited. Shopping list is filling up with add ons, upgrades and mods.

That's about it....

There are a plethora of upgrades available for ST's. Exxos sells lots through his shop. STe RAM is easier to upgrade than STfm because it is SIMM based.

For me, my three favourite upgrades for STe are (in no order)

1) SideCartridge Multidevice (A cartridge emulator which can do so much more, networking, HDD, FDD etc.) £36
2) ACSI2STM (or equivalent) a HDD emulator ~ £30
3) GoEx the best Gotek (Floppy disk emulator) for Atari STs. £65

I could list more (Tikus/MouSTer, RGBTOHDMI, ST2VGA, TOS2.06, SIMMs) but I'll let you get settled in.

I'm with GKR, so mostly Goju-Ryu and Shotokan. I'll have been at it 19 years without a break in November :)

Going to our black belt camp again this year, had to miss last year so looking forward to it this time.
