Those who know me understand that I'm a big fan of the Atari 8 bit line of machines. I have a 400, a 400 mini, 800, 600XL, 2x800XLs, 65XE and an XEGS. I had a 600XL and 800XL back in the day and had a blast with them and at the time they were much cheaper than the C64, which was financially out of my league at the time. IMHO I always felt that the 800XL was as good as the C64, but that's another story...
So it was with great interest that I saw the RM 800XL coming soon. However it seems to have stalled from what I can gather from the lack of updates, and though the website does have a 2026 date on it, the YouTube and X feeds seem to have updates from at least 6 months or longer ago.
It's a bit of a shame as it seems like a very similar project to the Ultimate 64, at least in concept if not execution.
Interestingly, it seems Atari has just re-registered the 800XL name and it's got people talking about an 800XL revival.
Personally I'd rather not see an 800XL mini, it just seems like a bridge too far since the 400 mini already exists and the world seems to have changed in favour of enhanced full size machines.
However my mind started racing towards the idea that what if Atari got together with the RM800XL people - that would be something I could get behind.

The "mini" versions don't interest me as I preffer full-size versions. And I personally can't wait for the RM800XL,
Good news is that Revive Team has just posted a new motherboard revision: https://www.facebook.com/rm800xl

Definitely seems like a step forward. Although I do have a 400 Mini I also have the real thing, and like you I prefer the full size versions. I have a C64 Maxi, the mini was of no interest at all.
