I just installed a DFB1X accelerator that I just got. It says version 105 on the sticker under. When I installed it I don't get any video output at all. If I disable the board with the jumper it starts as before. I have tried with and without the original ROM installed (haven't done the bodge wire yet, but without the ROM it should work anyway?)
The PSU is recapped as well.
I have also installed the V3 clockpatch. Everything is working before I plug in the accelerator.

The bodge wire isn't needed so long as the mainboard ROM is removed OR the DFB1 flash is disabled OR (if you are lucky!) both the flash and the mainboard ROM are byte-identical. The last option of course is the 'cheesing' option and not recommended but it can work anyway.zamuel_a wrote: 16 May 2026 12:30 I just installed a DFB1X accelerator that I just got. What pattern of LEDs do you see when you boot with DFB1 enabled? Do they flash/cycle and then stop in some pattern? Each LED has a different meaning (documented somewhere... Exxos' or BW's site)
Sometimes the reset cycle is unreliable. It's already sketchy on Falcons to begin with but adding accelerators can make it 10x worse. Sometimes mine gets into a state where it boots to a black screen repeatedly. Power it off, wait then power on. Then press reset a bunch of times and see if it changes.
The Falcon's NVRAM state can get in the way too. Maybe do a force-reset on it using one of the tools and retry.
Also, start with the speed jumper closed (40MHz). Avoid 50MHz (open) until you see things working properly.
It can be worthwhile using spray-contact-cleaner on the expansion pins. I had problems with a couple of boards where they didn't look corroded to the eye but the booster boards wouldn't work until the pins were cleaned.
If none of this helps, it could be a problem with the flash config (is it configured to low or high bank? are the banks flashed with an image?). If in doubt, disable the flash and put the F030 ROM back and try that instead.

Re: Can't make DFB1X work at all
I installed the bodge wire for the ROM and removed the ROM. Now it booted up! But if I install the ROM again I just get a black screen. Now I can't put the jumper in disable anymore either. It doesn't matter if the ROM is installed or not. Black screen in both cases. So a little further but something is not correct.
I see the first two LEDs light up even then I get a black screen.
EDIT
I got it to BOOT now in both disabled and enabled mode. When I first removed the motherboard ROM I had bent a pin so it wasn't correct when I installed it again! So that was my misstake!

Do you have NVDI installed? It is needed to run the DFB1X

Yes. After I found out my misstake with the ROM chip everything seems to be working now! :D
