Nova Drivers.

Post by luciodra »

I have two ISA ET4000 cards, a beatier one using the T0 version and a nicer one using T8. Using the newer one, if I select T8 the system is unstable and Doom crashes, but if I use T0 the system is stable and Doom runs beautifully...
The question is: is there an actual difference between the various Drivers or is the selection empirical?

Apparently the drivers are tuned to the different DACs that each card have.

I would also leave with T0 but the graphics appear "strange"...grainy, not very fluid.

The green card is special one it originally runs with the T6 Nova driver and has a different RAMDAC.

Modifying a graphics card isn't just about replacing the RAMDAC. The interconnects between the ET4000AX chips, the ICS2494 clock generator chip, and the RAMDAC chip also need to be addressed.

I just tried the T6 for Mega STE as they don't appear in the list for Raven. I don't seem to have made much progress compared to the T8. With T0 the system works, but the graphics seem strange to me.
