DO NOT USE DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time it is unfortunately not possible to white list users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

DualTOS + 16mhz Booster
Hey there,
I recently successfully installed the 2021 16mhz Booster and I now find the Sidecartridge TOS emulator does not play nice with it running at 16mhz (doh!) so an option would be to replace it with a Dual TOS board.
The motherboard is a C070789 with the six TOS 28 pin sockets, so I am assuming the DualTOS board [0131] and DualTOS ROM 1.04/2.06 ENGLISH [050] would work with the 16mhz Booster as it has the required TOS decoder on board. Is this correct?
Also, I am not using the upper RF shielding, so can I get away with plugging in the DualTOS board into the sockets, as I would like it to be removable if possible, as long as the keyboard will still fit.
Thanks for your help.

Re: DualTOS + 16mhz Booster
I half thought such issues were fixed side-cart end a while ago, but maybe missremembering something.. Have you contact the guy to ask ? Really shouldn't be any reason not to work. The ST bus runs at stock speeds.abraXXious wrote: Thu Nov 27, 2025 8:58 pm I recently successfully installed the 2021 16mhz Booster and I now find the Sidecartridge TOS emulator does not play nice with it running at 16mhz (doh!) so an option would be to replace it with a Dual TOS board.

There is a mod to fit the board higher up if it its in the way of the keyboard anyway. Also, I am not using the upper RF shielding, so can I get away with plugging in the DualTOS board into the sockets, as I would like it to be removable if possible, as long as the keyboard will still fit.

Re: DualTOS + 16mhz Booster
Thanks Chris,
is there a link for the mod to move the DualTOS board back? I can't see it being a problem as it looks like it will sit lower than the presently installed 68k socket + C070789 CPU locator + 16 mhz Booster + another 68k Socket + 68000 combination, and I managed to make that fit under the keyboard (only just and with a couple of unusual tweaks)...
....but just in case.

Re: DualTOS + 16mhz Booster
Thanks. Wow, that seems suspiciously easy!
One last question if you would be so kind Chris. Once the DualTOS is installed, the CE wire is connected between it and the 16mhz Booster and then TOS 2.06 will work using the decoder built into the Booster?

Re: DualTOS + 16mhz Booster
Yeah.. You just wire CE on the dualtos board to the ROM_CE (or whatever its called) on the booster, and you can use 104/206 then.abraXXious wrote: Thu Nov 27, 2025 10:01 pm Once the DualTOS is installed, the CE wire is connected between it and the 16mhz Booster and then TOS 2.06 will work using the decoder built into the Booster?

Re: DualTOS + 16mhz Booster
Sorry, one more question Chris. Just ordered the DualTOS board and the UK 1.04 / 2.06 TOS ROM.
I will be installing the unit as per the "2 CHIP RELOCATION C070789" example to ensure more room under the keyboard. HOWEVER, as I have the 16mhz Booster and will be using it to decode, do I still solder the white wire from the CE solder pad on the DualTOS PCB to in 8 is on the 74LS11 IC or, do I instead connect the CE solder pad on the DualTOS PCB to the CE solder pad on the 16mhz Booster?
Also, I see there is a three pin header on the DualTOS PCB to select either BANK 1 or BANK 2 (TOS image 1 or TOS image 2). I take it the centre pin being connected to one of the pins on each side selects the bank, however if the centre pin is NOT connected then is a bank selected or does it just "float"? The reason I ask is to see if I can get away with just two wires going to a switch to select the TOS image, or if I need all three wires going to a switch with a common centre pole that connects to either outer pole.
Thanks.

Re: DualTOS + 16mhz Booster
I answered your first question in my previous reply.
As for the dualtos thing, the center pad is the select and either side is 5v and 0v for bank select in the ROM. You could wire a pullup on the center pad and just switch to 0ve to save a wire.
Also note there's a pullup resistor mod on the dualtos board as per the link I posted before.

"Yeah.. You just wire CE on the dualtos board to the ROM_CE (or whatever its called) on the booster, and you can use 104/206 then." <--- it was not clear if you meant this for the STANDARD install of the DualTOS board or the RELOCATED install.
I assume from your reply that the CE pads on the DualTOS and Booster are connected regardless of which location the DualTOS is installed?

Re: DualTOS + 16mhz Booster
You have to drive CE on the dualtos board else you won't get TOS206 decoding. If you wire CE to the LS11, you will only get GLUE decoding for 104. It doesn't matter where you fit the board.
