As most people know, my girlfriend packs up the orders and walks to the post office to ship them off for me..
Unfortunately the past few weeks she has problems with her left knee and that it's become very painful and she's struggling to even bend her leg to walk.
So while she can still package the orders up she probably won't be able to walk to the post office anymore. I do go up once or twice a week to see her (I don't live with her). so I'll be able to post them myself, but likely only once a week
She's going to have it looked at on Friday but it is a physio hospital I think and I think they will have to likely send her for an X-ray because I don't believe it is a muscle problem, I think it is a bone problem and that could likely drag on for years with the state of how the NHS is these days :(
Her mother had to have a knee replacement and she was waiting literally years for that to be done :(
Hopefully won't be anything too drastic but either way, we probably only be able to ship out once a week for the foreseeable future.

I don't understand about the knee replacement though - why would that take years to be done? I
mean, once the attending doctor ordered it, it should just be a matter of scheduling it, right?

Never-ending drama with it all... But basically the health system here is seriously strained and you basically have to wait two years for even basic operations these days. It may depend on area but around here.. good luck basically.. She should have had it done years ago and the hospital said it's the worst they have ever seen..I could write a book on it all...Darklord wrote: 21 Oct 2025 18:31 I don't understand about the knee replacement though - why would that take years to be done? for 40 years, according to the orthopedic surgeon (retired respiratory therapist - lots of walking).
(that and idiopathic avascular necrosis)
I think it was a couple of months wait on the first one and then 4 months on the 2nd one. The 2nd
one was because they won't do the surgeries that close together. Heck, I asked them to do both at
the same time but they refused.
I hope your situations get resolved soon. Will keep my fingers crossed. :)

That sucks :( I know there was something about runners who run on concrete all the time causing damage to joints.. It was said to run on grass or have those air shoe things to soften the impact a bit.Darklord wrote: 21 Oct 2025 19:24 Ugh. I had both hips replaced. Sounds bad.(that and idiopathic avascular necrosis)
Girlfriend has idiopathic Hypertension.
Yeah think they do that so you can still limp about. Dawns mum has all-sorts of medical conditions and she high risk for a lot of operations.I think it was a couple of months wait on the first one and then 4 months on the 2nd one. The 2nd

Oh... Not nice news. I hope she can get it fixed without the need for surgery.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.
