DO NOT USE DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time it is unfortunately not possible to white list users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

No floppy drive update...

Update your old 720k to a 1.44 drive etc.

No floppy drive update...

Post by Darklord »

I've got a spare STacy motherboard that I was fooling around with, thinking about
another (different) project that I might use it for and I'm having a problem with
the floppy drive.

This is the original 720k DS/DD drive, nothing special, no upgrade kits added to it,
or anything like that.

But...it reads every disk I throw at it just fine. It reads a floppy drive from the start
when I first boot it up but whenever I change floppy disks, it won't update the disk
contents unless I hit <escape> on an open window.

Until I hit <escape>, it shows the previous floppy disks contents.

I swapped out 2 other floppy drives and they both do the same thing as well.

I know there's probably a simple solution for this but I can't remember what it is.

Thanks all.

Pressing ESC is how I've always done it. TOS104 should update the contents. There is no mechanism I'm aware of to refresh automatically. That's just how it's always been.

Sorry, I (as usual) didn't explain all that very well.

Let's say I've got a floppy in, that was in when I first powered the machine on.

I open it up with the A icon. Contents are displayed. I close that window.

I remove that floppy and insert a different one, with different files.

I open that new floppy up using the A icon. It still shows the contents of the
first floppy disk.

With that window open, I can hit <escape> and it then re-reads the disk and
updates the window with the correct files. I hope that's clearer.

Thanks! :)

TOS104 doesn't have that issue.. But the media change fix can help.. That's built into my floppy kit.

Well...it is a STacy. They came out with TOS v1.04 stock from the start.
