DO NOT USE DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time it is unfortunately not possible to white list users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

Atarian Computing's Raven Build
Finally, I will begin my journey. I am now committed, having ordered most of the parts. Still not ordered or found:
- CPU Rev 6 ordered from Amiga Webshop
- CPU Socket (can't find one) 223 socket from eBay. Need to remove 17 pins.
- Case (will run some examples for opinions later)
- PSU
- KBD/Mouse
- Monitor (I mean, I have many to use, but I'd like one specially for Raven)

For a case, I'm leaning towards a Chieftec CI-02B-OP Pro Cube, which is local to me. Here's a review of it: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/chie ... ci-02b-op/
Re: Atarian Computing's Raven Build
I have built one of the DIY sockets but it was fiddly and took a while. But cheaper I guess. Otherwise you can get ready made from here.

Thanks. Archi-TECH is out of stock. But I ordered a 223-pin socket, so I'll just have to remove 17 pins, which should be fine.DoG wrote: Thu Sep 11, 2025 10:36 am I have built one of the DIY sockets but it was fiddly and took a while. But cheaper I guess. Otherwise you can get ready made from here.

I'll mock it up so I don't cock it up.

Re: Atarian Computing's Raven Build
I started building last weekend. Here is the result from day one with all topside SMD components in place, as well as the PGA socket.
Soldering the SMD ICs was surprisingly easy. The 1206 components were difficult for me. I always put too much solder. So it doesn't look factory. But actually, I fully embrace that. It is a home-built machine after all. If it looked factory-made, my friends would never believe I built it from scratch.
The pin extraction from the socket was straightforward. No dramas there.
Here is the result from yesterday. All topside components are in place. No dramas here. What's left to build:

- 1. All the caps underside, a thorough cleanup, and inspection
- 2. ROM stick
- 3. ROM programmer
- 4. RAM sticks
- 5. CKBD

Mainboard is complete except for programming Nessi and building CKBD.

Re: Atarian Computing's Raven Build
I just flashed Nessi with Nessi.jed assuming it's the latest. Is it the right one though? Should I use 250714.jed? @agranlund
Re: Atarian Computing's Raven Build
I'd go with the latest numbered one: 250714.jed
However, @PhilC mentioned some trouble using it and if that's the case you may want to try the one before instead.
250714 had some changes to make more brands of CF cards work and if this firmware is an issue then perhaps it should be reverted and more thoroughly tested.
(was using a Kingston card before which always worked and didn't notice CF compatibility issues until I wanted to test a DiskOnModule thing)

That was very fast!Atarian Computing wrote: Tue Oct 14, 2025 7:44 am Mainboard is complete except for programming Nessi and building CKBD.
You may already know but just in case:
- remove jumper from J101
(else you'll have IRQ7 constantly being triggered. the header is in case you want to hook up an external NMI trigger button)
- move jumpers on J102, J104, J105 to the top two pins.
(1x mode is not well tested and compatibility is probably so-so)
- you can put a jumper on J203 based on how many frontpanel LED's you have.
(controls if disk activity is shown on a dedicated LED or shared with the Power LED)
