WTB PCI graphics card to suit socket 7 CPU

Post by PhilC »

Hi All,

Just going through my old PC stuff and I have enough bits to build up a K2-400 socket 7 retro PC.

I've got ISA cards coming out my ears but nothing PCI. Id like something suitable to match the CPU but can't afford the likes of Voodoo cards etc.

Probably something like a TNT2 or similar of that era in PCI as no AGP slots on this motherboard.

I may have a few dotted about.

If you are happy to take the time to diagnose/replace what I believe to be cooked VRAM, Ive got a 3DFX Voodoo Rush card if you want it? (IIRC its a PCI card). It works, just the display is glitchy.

Otherwise, I will have a look; maybe I still have something like a PCI Nvidia GF4MX knocking around in the loft.

I cant say I will have time to find it quickly though, so let me know if you can hang on. :D

@mrbombermillzy that voodoo card does sound interesting with it working but having dodgy ram. Part of the fun may be fixing it if I can still get the bits.

Reviews of the card ain't great though

Yeah, IIRC it was slightly slower than a Voodoo1 due to having to share the RAM bandwidth with the 2D parts of the card and some nonstandard PCI interfacing . But hey, its free if you want it.

I can still look for some other PCI cards too.

Just let me know.

Yes please, never had a voodoo 1, I had a millennium 2 and Voodoo2 back in the day.

Right. I'll add whatever PCI cards I find (Voodoo Rush/GF4MX/???) to the pile then.

Lol thanks. I might end up going with more than I arrived with at this rate.
