Evening all,
Noob question (for me anyway).
Background dit (story)
Bought a 1040stfm m/b off ebay.
Worked a treat and has been for around 2 months.
Decided to by the Multi TOS upgrade from SidecarT.
Impatient me decided to reopen my ST and prep ready.
Other impatient me said 'Put it back together and play some games, it's going to be a while to get here' so I did.
Whilst putting it together I managed to pick up the wrong floppy (a PC one) and plugged it in, powered up and was greeted by white border, black screen. Powered off straight away.
Plugged in my diag cart with 4.4 to be shown red screen with
R1 RAM address=080032 W:5555 R:5455 bad bits:8
R1 RAM address=080030 W:AAAA R:2BAA bad bits: 8 15
alternating to the final address of 080000
So, can any of you peeps able to pin point which RAM chip or chips has gone boobs vertical (no longer working) and how you diagnosed that chip as I want to learn (as well as being spoon fed as impatient me wants to have a couple of rounds of Shinobi whilst CINCNAGHOME (the wife) is on her night shift)?
I've read up, on here, about using a null modem and PuTTY but sadly I don't have a null modem cable...YET.
Many thanks in advance
Eddie
