Banana for scale...

Post by rubber_jonnie »

Actually, no bananas this time, just old vs new. I just got an Atari 2600+ off Amazon, it was 56% off, so just over £40 delivered :)

And I wondered about scale compared to my original 2600 light sixer:

Smaller for sure, and if it had 6 switches it might have been a little bigger, but still able to take original cartridges and came complete with a 10 game cart that is configurable by dip switch.

So then it occurred to me that perhaps a similar comparison would be interesting for the 400 & 400 Mini:

As you can see, theres a much bigger difference in scale here.

Has anybody got other comparisons like the A500 Mini vs the A500 or the C64 Mini vs the C64?

So I tried all my carts and out of 10 7800 carts, 7 worked out of 10 and all the 2600 carts worked great 😁

It'd be nice if my Harmony cart for the 7800 worked, but you can't have everything.

I need to get the Tiger Heli cart when it comes out.

OK, good news :)

I just upgraded the 2600+ to V2 of the firmware as mine was on V1 and the games that failed before, Choplifter, Joust & Karateka now all work just fine :)

Definitely a worthwhile upgrade if you have one on older firmware.

One thing that is concerning though, is that the video touchpad (Neither of mine, both working) doesn't seem to work with Star Raiders, which is a pretty big omission as it's needed to play the game properly.
