Hello,
Had a STE but sadly it was thrown out after a flood. I was away at university. Ahh gutted, but there you go.
Recently got back into fixing up tech. Started with some consoles (mega drive, Xbox, PlayStation). Then bought an STFM C103414-001 rev 1.1 from eBay last month. Factory 512k ram onboard.
I have been busy getting ready to move house and my time testing has been limited. Experienced some strange behaviour. Boots to gem ok, used a ASCI2STM and loaded some tools.
Floppy is working ok, disks are loading fine. TOS version is 1.04. I have heard this board revision is a bit of a nightmare to upgrade.
Just hangs on game loading. Is there a diagnostic tool I should use to test what’s going on?
Hopefully that’s a good intro.
Any help or advice would be welcome.

There is a 4mb mod you can do with that board if I remember correctly. It involves fitting the larger ram and then soldering a wire to each chip and then to MAD9 pin on the MMU socket.

If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

I have found a YouTube video and bought some ram. Just practicing my soldering technique and getting some confidence before going for it

Good luck with the upgrade, I'm glad you mentioned practising, it's something that isn't often considered, especially with SMD RAM.
Don't rush it and good luck with the move :)
