I couldn't help but rescue this waif and stray 2600 light sixer:
The seller is hopefully going to get it to me before my holidays next weekend :)
I do like a lame duck and it was very cheap, and I do like the look better than the 2600Jr models.

Re: I couldn't resist - poorly 2600 light sixer
I found one of them yesterday  and a few JRs
I was doing stuff and having plans for them. But I'm half wondering about clearing out most of the 2600 stuff. I mean I got the 2600+ with most games built in. I can use the carts but they take up space.
I took a box of it all to CL2 to test the games out and never had chance. It's all been sat in the box for the past 2 years. I love the 2600 stuff but it's just taking up space at this point. I'd keep my original games and JR. But I'll probably end up clearing out my stuff at some point.

Re: I couldn't resist - poorly 2600 light sixer
I was considering a 2600+ or 7800+ but having a real 7800 with a Concerto card means I can run any of the 2600 or 7800 games from one cart since the 7800 is backwards compatible. The Concerto also allows for a Pokey to be installed, which I've done, and certain games (Well, two games) will use it.exxos wrote: 27 Apr 2025 00:26 I found one of them yesterday  and a few JRs

I've somehow ended up with 3 2600 JR's, I don't know how.

They multiply on their own
Now think about it, I'm sure I have a boxed 2600 in the loft and a 7800 somewhere.

Re: I couldn't resist - poorly 2600 light sixer
This fella arrived yesterday when I was in the office:
Overall it's grubby, but nothing a good clean can't fix.
Construction is typical of Atari for the time:
The cast metal can containing the main PCB is identical to how the 400 and 800 were built, so you can see what Atari were thinking when they designed the latter two.
And once inside the main PCB is seemingly in good order with no signs of rework with the 6507, TIA and RIOT all socketed, so next I need to find a suitable PSU to do a smoke test :)
