Mouse spare part anyone ?

Post by Marsupilami »

Hi,

My mouse is broken, it's a tiny piece of plastic holding one of the optical wheel.
It seem the previous piggy...sorry owner...tried to fix it with glue but of course it was a too tiny surface to remain in place (upper left corner in the photo).

So, i have 2 solutions :
- Replacing the whole plastic part, including the soldered optical electronic stuff (if someone has it...) :)
- Doing just a 3D printing of the little missing part and use the 2 existing screws to fix it.
If nobody has a whole black part, i may try this solution...

Regards,
Marsup

Measure the diameter of the roller shaft it and see if you can find an Oilite bronze bushing you could epoxy to the frame, maybe? This route will require you thoroughly clean the outer of the bushing with IPA or the like before epoxy would adhere - Oilite is a sintered metal impregnated with oil. You will have to be fairly accurate with measurements regarding the diameter of the roller shaft. It's the same stuff they use on floppy and optical drives to mount the head mechanism on the runners, well, they used to...

@Neffers : Yes, it could be a good idea. In fact the solution should let the wheel rolling but block the rolling axle up and back.

I keep on working on a 3D printed "patch" as a fallback solution if i don't find ant spare part.
