Finding this was lucky - Atari 800

Post by rubber_jonnie »

This was a find on a Facebook retro selling site I've bought a few things from before:

IMG20250326125721.jpg

There is apparently a 2nd box to come with a 130XE and a few other bits, such as a serial interface.

The price was way below what I'd expect to pay for one of these, even without the extras.

There is a lot of cleaning to do, and the 1050 is looking a bit unhappy, but I'm sure I'll get it working. There is a basic cart and also an assembler cart

The group can be found here: Vintage Computers for sale UK but obviously buying from FB is a risky business, so please take precautions if you are considering buying over there.

Oliver wants to know when he can have a go :)

Oh, he inspects everything, particularly the box it came in, but I'm worried he's going to get polystyrene balls everywhere!!!

That's the plan, but it'll have to wait, I've spent far too much already and it was only payday yesterday!!!

Turns out the 1050 was held together with masking tape!!! Everything needs a good external clean first.

Nice. I've been looking for a 130XE for a while at a sensible price. I find it cool that they look like miniature Atari-ST's.

I dunno about you but I tend to mainly choose items for my collection based on nostalgia (having owned or wanted to own) but for some reason I never knew 8-bit Atari computers existed at the time.

Great find Jon.

Its always thrilling to find a 'trove' of gear like this. Epecially if the price is very acceptable. :)
