Flipping Capacitors - Viable?

Post by Darklord »

So here's the floppy/hard drive cage on the Atari STacy (not mine).

You can see one of the older style internal Ultrasatan's (v1.2) being
used. Notice how flat it's top profile is.

Here's the latest version of the internal Ultrasatan (2k23). Notice
how high it's top profile is.

So...my question for the tech-savvy crowd here is, can I remove
the 3 capacitors on top, reverse and reinstall them on the bottom
of the board, thus lowering the top profile? I understand that the
proper orientation (+ and -) would have to be maintained.

Would this work? Thanks all.

Yes, it would make no difference.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.
