New toy just arrived from Germany, my first ST (short version) as I only had STF,STE, Mega and Mega STE so far.
It seems to be a very early model, the sticker states it’s from May 85 and the components inside all have early dates too.
The motherboard is clean and very close to the 2B (with the big white “stuff”), major difference being a ceramic 68000 instead of a plastic one.
Hopefully Exxos will resume shipment to EU soon so I can get a proper RAM upgrade to 4MB 8-)

Very good idea, I will look into it as soon as I get the ST to work properly. At the moment I can’t get any display.

That's a REALLY early board. Most of the chips have date codes around the 15th week of 1985!
The label on the bottom suggests May 1985, which would tally with the date codes.

Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Yes, the “youngest” component seems to be the 68000 itself being from the 16th week of 85.
Does anyone knows what is the big white plastic stuff on the motherboard?

Most likely the toroidal ferrite core that serves to filter the power rails ? See other revision motherboards.

Very handy that there's no modulator. On my Short-ST I removed the modulator and used that space to install a PicoPSU and a RGBtoHDMI. The Short-ST is an excellent little machine with lots of opportunity, mines running a TF536 with EmuTOS and HDMI output :) 4MB ST-RAM and 64MB TT RAM.

I really love the form factor of these short STs, never saw a real one before and I’m really happily surprised.
As soon as I get it display a picture, I will upgrade to 4MB and if I can revive one of my ST536(discussed in a different thread), I will definitely install it in this ST.
