I've been made aware of a particular demoscener claiming they know of software that does not work on the TF1260 but is refusing to tell us what this is.
The reason can only be to be able to hold a smug position over us because we somehow have missed this particular thing in the extensive testing we did. If anyone has any idea what this is i'd be interested to know so i can investigate and fix. The person in question is aligned more with the tracker music side of the demoscene.
No only is this totally wrong in every possible way but its anti-community and frankly this person should be ashamed to show their face at demoparties.

Re: TF1260 Software issues
*sigh*
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Re: TF1260 Software issues
I can only imagine it is emerging now because of the announcements of two new "competing" accelerators Trinity and ACA1240/60?
(Note: Edu Arana is very courteous about TF1260 in all discussions)
There is a thread including lists of various chip-ram bandwidth sensitive software over on EAB. (R-Type, Final Fight Enhanced, Super Stardust, games by Mutation Software) but nothing about software "not working", just that the frame-rate is reported to vary (unconfirmed).

Re: TF1260 Software issues
This was confirmed by myself & others on that thread but I prefaced it with using firmware with SN:1000 and Chucky also posted yesterday showing no such issues with latest firmware with SN:68090alexh wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 9:32 am I can only imagine it is emerging now because of the announcements of two new "competing" accelerators Trinity and ACA1240/60?

Re: TF1260 Software issues
Nobody should still be on anything but the 68090 FW. All of the builders (and myself) will update any card for return postage. I did h0ffman's card personally at Terriblebytes.

Perhaps I should make a video for this
