Hi,
Am not sure if I'm doing anything wrong, but I'm signed in, and am trying to order a couple of bits from the store. I'm clicking the buy button on said items, and the text is updated stating 1 items in basket as you'd expect, but when I try to click the view basket button at the top of the page, after a small pause, I'm being told my basket is empty.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

View basket - clear basket.
Wait for page to reload and click clear basket again.

Q) I have problems adding or removing items into the shopping basket?
On September 18th, 2024, I discovered an unusual bug where two cookies with the same name appeared in the store, but under different paths. This caused issues with adding or removing items from the basket. I don't know why this happened, and only saw the problem recently. So I don't know when the problem started occurring.
The clear basket routine has been updated to handle cookies that were set under this incorrect path. Also, if you was loading the store without "www" in the URL, cookies would malfunction completely and not be set at all. This problem *should* now be fixed. Additionally, the JavaScript has been revised, so please clear your cache to ensure you're using the latest version of the store files.
If you still have problems then press F12 To bring up the console and manually delete the cookies. Click on the application tab across the horizontal nav bar. Then on the left panel click cookies then click exxosforum. Then on the right side panel look for anything which says "exxoscookie2" and delete them all. Refresh the store page and it should now be fixed. If there are no cookies, check without and without www in the store URL.
If you continue to experience issues, please check your antivirus software or security settings, as they may be blocking cookies needed for the store to function properly.
I also suggest only using the "Shop" link from the forum nav bar to make sure your using the most common and latest store links.

Re: Your basket is empty issue
I'm facing the opposite issue - no matter what I've tried, I can't clear the items in my basket...one of which is out of stock so that is blocking me from ordering anything at the moment...
I've tried the clear basket button several times with & without refreshing the browser.
I've also tried changing the quantity from 1 to 0 but that doesn't work either.
This is using Chrome (latest version as of now) on Windows 10...

Something is blocking the store from accessing cookies on your PC. As to if its Chrome or Win10 itself or some other "security" app.. who knows anymore.JezC wrote: 06 Apr 2025 21:42 I've tried the clear basket button several times with & without refreshing the browser.
Generally..

I would also try a different browser see if you still get the same problems. Try firefox.. Or linux ;)This is using Chrome (latest version as of now) on Windows 10...
Its all a bit odd really. The store even has code to check for bad cookies and sets them to expire. But Chrome for some reason refuses to cooperate for some reason. No idea what windows does anymore, probably blocking cookie access, or turns it off even these days ? Even antivirus programs can block it.

Re: Your basket is empty issue
Ok, thanks @exxos - will try a different browser as a first port of call...
EDIT - yes, that did the trick, order for the H6C5B placed...now to work out what else I might need...and here's to hoping that I don't have issues with the floppy interface on this board (otherwise @exxos will be after me with a soldering iron!)...

Re: Your basket is empty issue
And the next little hurdle is that the order history in my account isn't working (something about email address or order number in your profile is invalid or does not match).
Given that the email address does match, I presume something else is borked somewhere...
I tried it in Firefox as well as Chrome, same result in both.
Not to mention the swathe of past orders is also not viewable.
:sigh:
Any ideas @exxos ?

Re: Your basket is empty issue
I had the same basket empty thing going on - with Safari & Chrome. Tried Firefox and it worked.
Previously it happened with Safari and I fixed it by switching to Chrome...
So it might not be a browser specific problem but something to do with cached/cookie state (?)
(BTW each time this was from MacOS, not Windows so it's not win-specific either)

Re: Your basket is empty issue
Not really sure why this started to happen because the cookie code hasn't changed for some years. There was a duplicate cookie which started appearing I have no idea why. But also setting the expiry date on the cookie or trying to clear it does not actually remove the cookie either, again I don't know why. It does seem to be some sort of weird cache issue going on yes. Browsers should not cache to that extent in the first place. Manually deleting them seems to be the only way to solve it. But what causes it in the first place.. again, no idea. It just seems to have stated to happen over the past year or 2.dml wrote: 07 Apr 2025 18:12 So it might not be a browser specific problem but something to do with cached/cookie state (?)
Some issues was down to people using outdated links to the store. You should always use the one listed in the nav bar on the forum. But even so, using the wrong link , likely generates a duplicate cookie which is what are supposed to get deleted by clicking clear basket.. but you have to keep doing it before the browser actually gives up and actually deletes them.. but if theres 2 cookies, it doesn't work.. but it should.
