I'm interested in the STFM KIT DUAL TOS adapters but I have a few questions:
Can I fit an external switch to select the ROM to boot? STFM KIT DUAL TOS SMT PCB says it has the ability to add a switch but this feature is not mentioned for the more expensive STFM KIT DUAL TOS. Do they both have a switch?
I'm not entirely sure what the differences are between STFM KIT DUAL TOS SMT PCB and STFM KIT DUAL TOS?
Do they support booting TOS 1.04 and EmuTOS? I can only see dualtos ROMs with 2 versions of TOS and non with emutos and tos 1.04. You do seem to sell a "custom dualtos rom" for the presumed typo price of £9999. I'm certainly not paying £10k for a dual TOS/emutos rom.

Re: STFM KIT DUAL TOS questions
If you look at the silkscreen on the board they both say 'Switcher' and "Dual', so yes, both can be switched by wiring a switch to the bank selection jumpers.
Not much good having a Dual TOS if you need to take the machine apart to switch it :)
In terms of EmuTOS, I'm not 100% sure as I don't know if it needs to have the TOS 2.06 decoding, and for that you'd need to get some addition hardware in the form of a decoder board.
My only machine with Emutos is also running 2.06, hence has a decoder, so I can't be sure.
Hopefully somebody else can more accurately answer that question.

Re: STFM KIT DUAL TOS questions
If you use 192K version of EmuTOS you don't need a decoder.

Re: STFM KIT DUAL TOS questions
Would you know if the 192K version has both ACSI and XHDI support? You might be able to spare me a few minutes looking through its source to find out. I know the cartridge / 128 Kb version doesn't have XHDI support but the floppy (320 K) build does. I need XHDI to use ext2 partitions.
Hopefully exxos would be willing to flash me a TOS/emutos dual rom for less than £9999, I suspect I'll be able to buy the required programmer for less.

Re: STFM KIT DUAL TOS questions
Due to limited ROM space, EmuTOS 192k does not include XHDI support. (It has ACSI support, just like TOS 1.0x.) To run the much more feature-rich EmuTOS 256k, as it has already been pointed out, you need an address decoder or a TOS upgrade that includes that address decoder.

Does exxos sell these? If not, where can I buy one? I can't see one listed on the exxos web store page.czietz wrote: 15 Sep 2024 07:14Due to limited ROM space, EmuTOS 192k does not include XHDI support. (It has ACSI support, just like TOS 1.0x.) Its description says:
I'd want to use it on a STFM. I've never heard of any Atari machines referred to as H4 or H5. Are these Hades versions? This board is NOT suitable for the H4,H5,MEGA platforms.
So the final question is what does exxos charge for a TOS 1.0.4 / Emutos 256k+ dual rom, if thats something he offers?

Not hades. It's a remake project of a STfm motherboard.danboid wrote: 15 Sep 2024 10:04I'd want to use it on a STFM. I've never heard of any Atari machines referred to as H4 or H5. Are these Hades versions? This board is NOT suitable for the H4,H5,MEGA platforms.
Regarding burning eprom. Exxos can probably do it if he see this. But anyone on this forum with an eprom burner can probably help you otherwise.

Re: STFM KIT DUAL TOS questions
H4 and H5 are ST remake boards from Exxos, if you search the forum you will find out more about these. The Mega can't use these due to the GLUE being under the PSU with no room for the decoder.danboid wrote: 15 Sep 2024 10:04

As for the custom ROM, given the price is at £9999 it's likely that this is a placeholder or simply shouldn't be on there, but only @exxos can answer that and I have mentioned it to him.
Wether or not he'd offer EmuTOS is another question entirely.
