A1200.NET still failing its backers/customers

Post by terriblefire »

<sigh> I am again getting reports that A1200.NET is yet to ship kits to its original backers. Including to people who backed keysets that have shipped. I'm not sure whether this is malice or incompetence at this point. I've also had reports of people getting keysets with missing keys and being told effectively "tough".

Given the teams policy of nuking anything that criticised them I'm not sure there is much more anyone can do.

I've bought three sets of UK keys, I was not a backer, I bought 2x Black and 1x A1200 colour. All of them are "acceptable" the printing isn't as good as official CBM ones but acceptable. They came within days of ordering. No missing keys in fact extra keys to support multiple keyboard base boards.

It is my understanding that he's making them in colour batches, first Black then A1200 white. Yesterday he announced they are about to start selling A500 white and CD32 colours were next and backers would receive them soon.

I wanted an A1200.net black A1200 case but even though they have stock he said he can't sell them to me as long as there is stock elsewhere in the world due to licensing. There are some available in AUS he said. Fortunately I was able to buy one in the end in the UK through other methods and it is nice quality and I like it.

I think that it is not nice that they have had the backers money for almost 10 years.

It`s been that long that long I do not even know what I ordered and to be honest the ordering system aint the best, way to complicated and too many web pages to flick through to get to your order details !

My CD32 Special Ed case and mug have been sat in a UK warehouse for years.
Hopefully the keys will be soon...

There was the option a while back of paying 20-30 euros to get the case and mug delivered. Mug would be useful, but a case and no keys is a bit

With the announcement that CD32 colours are next it shouldn't be "too long". They published this video yesterday.

Some Kickstarters are extremely professional and run almost like buying something from a professional commercial company (Amiga wireless Tank Mouse) and others drag out for years and years (Sinclair Spectrum Next, Checkmate Monitor) and others you loose everything (Matt Gray Refourmation & Reformation 5). Very much a gamble. Not that it excuses not delivering.

There are surely no black A1200.net cases left in Australia. Gray and translucent only I think, I was looking for them recently.
