WANTED Atari STe C300588 shifter IC

Post by antorsae »

Hello, I am looking for the C300588 shifter chip since my Mega STe has the C301712 version and some fullscreen demos do not act correctly and I believe the problem is due to the shifter based on some information found here.

I am located in Spain.

It's very unlikely that the Shifter chip is the problem. The Mega STE is the most powerful 16-bit model, but it is also the less compatible.

- Make sure you disabled 16 MHz and cache, or most demos will not run.
- Some demos simply don't run (correctly) on STE models.
- Some demos don't run (correctly) on the Mega STE, especially those that use the Blitter.

Thanks. I am going to do some maintenance first and then (last resort) change the shifter.

Had simalor issues with two (normal) ste computers..
It was the cpu in both cases.
Changing it to a 68HC model always helped.
Why? Don’t know…
Swapping other ic’s, memory and or psu had no effect.
And indeed the mega ste does not run all demos as there is some incompatibility.

It’s probably not really broken its just that certain demos are just that critical.
