In the background I've been busy working on a updated version of the store. Work is not yet completed, but the basic core of the system was completed last night. I'm not currently sure when the new store will go live as it's still under testing and I still have things to finish off yet which could take a few more weeks.
There has been significant code changes which ChatGPT has mostly written. So if it goes wrong we can blame that! I think there would be no way I could have done these changes without it. I pretty much just throw bullet points of what I wanted it to do and within a few seconds it churns out hundreds of lines of code which have been impressively accurate and required very little fiddling or changes.
There has been a lot of functions which had to be updated also. Needless to stay, it has been soaking up a lot of my time lately among a million other things. I've also been tweaking a few scripts to make them a little more efficient etc.
The first changes that all sections will start minimised.
You can click on the green section bar or the nav bar at the top to automatically scroll and expand the sections. This change is because there is getting over 300 items and likely will be a lot more added in the future and I can see on my tablet that it is struggling to display everything on one page.
For those who don't like this change, there is a "show all" button which will put the store into "full page mode" just like the store loads now. Then for those who will complain about clicking the button, there is a '?all' switch which can be added to the address to automatically expand all sections. But I don't realistically see anyone wanting to run the store in that mode anymore.
Search function
Searches are done on a per item basis across all items in the stock list. So searching for "RTC" will list all items with that phrase in the items found.
You can search for multiple keywords or phrases. Search is rather rudimentary but it should make things significantly easier to find items.
ROM builder utility
As I keep getting asked about doing custom ROMs, I have done a utility where people can upload their own 2 ROM images (at their own risk) and this will generate a filename which will be linked to the custom rom item in the store.
You have to be logged into the forum to use the utility. After you have uploaded your 2 ROM images, you will be given a file number which will automatically appear in the custom ROM item in the store as shown above. EG 12345678.BIN. So when you purchase that item I will create your ROM chip for you and it will be shipped with your order.
Note that because I don't have much free time, there will be a minimum of a one-week delay in processing custom ROM chips. There will also be a small charge for this service. While the item is currently listed in the store, you cannot purchase it, and it is currently just there as a placeholder. The current store cannot process this item. The feature will only become available when new store system goes live.
The limitation of this system is that you can only do ONE custom ROM chip per order. While you can order more than one custom ROM chip, doing so will result in you getting the same ROM multiple times.

Re: Upcoming store GUI changes and utilities
Indeed, loading of the store took nearly 10 seconds. Before it was maybe half.

Re: Upcoming store GUI changes and utilities
The new store hasn't even gone live yet. It's the same code as being run for the past few years. For me the store loads in 2-3 seconds and the new store loads slightly quicker.mikro wrote: 04 Jul 2024 09:09 Indeed, loading of the store took nearly 10 seconds. Before it was maybe half.
So if anyone is seeing delays, it's not related to the upcoming store changes. From a users point of view, nothing has changed.

Just trying to work out when I can afford to buy my next bag of goodies...may depend on how much overtime I've managed to do in the last few weeks...exxos wrote: 18 Jul 2024 18:37 If any more regular members are planning to order anything from the store, can you please let me know, as I could do with some testers for the updated store..

Re: Upcoming store GUI changes and utilities
So again, if there are any regular forum members who don't mind testing the beta version of my store then let me know...
I have done a ton of backend changes. Mostly removing depreciated tags and trying to optimise various things and moving to the css sprite images. Plus various bug fixes ( probably introduced a few somewhere as well  :fire: :fire: :hide: :fire: :fire: )
