A pair of old portables

Post by Icky »

Well I have been away from the forum for a few months but whilst away I have had sometime to buy a few retro things. This pair was an eBay buy where they did not come with PSU, the Epson PX-4+ was shown as running but the TRS-80 Model 100 was sold in the bundle as not working.

After receiving them I took on the Epson first giving it a good clean inside and out. On top of that I ordered some PSU's and battery packs to replace the rechargeable ones that are in the Epson.

It's an interesting computer running CP/M and contains Microsoft Basic on ROM. There is a third rom slot free for other programs. The whole thing is modular and there were many modules for the top right hand corner. This one comes with a printer but there are ram packs, micro tape and even a multimeter module.

The keyboard was also modular and allowed for an epos type keyboard.

The other with a little clean of the battery compartment sprang into life with a fresh set of batteries. I haven't tackled cleaning and sorting this one out yet but I have noticed the LCD has a few rows or pixels not working.
