Atari 520ST Power Brick PSU

Post by Icky »

Finally I got my hands on an Atari 520ST power brick. A rather large piece of plastic.

I now have a new project for this weekend to clean up and pop it open to see what is inside and if it can be re-capped. Will add new pics as I open it up.

Well I managed to pop the brick open by carefully putting a knife down the seam to break the old glue.

Its a NORTEL PNE-5

I did not expect to see this when I opened it up.

A load of epoxy resin around the transformer and it looks like the epoxy has stuck two of the fine wires from the transformer together (second and third wire down) see pic below:

Pictures of the component side of the PSU board. Haven't started to clean it up yet so its a bit dusty.

Look like its only 5 re-caps

Indeed I too had a look around. I guess whilst I clean it up I'll draw out the schematic - its no bother. I'm interested to find out how its configured.
