DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

I've just spent an hour going through the Q&A. Lots of positive vibes but they're a corporation (albeit relatively small) after all.exxos wrote: 07 Sep 2023 18:53 wow. Let's hope Atari don't screw up retro computing with IP claims else we all be screwed.
I'd be surprised if re-acquiring old IP isn't on the cards but most of the talk is around the 2600/7800.
Maybe they'll leave us alone :D

I've only quickly read through the thread, but isn't this now history repeating itself because everything went to crap originally when companies started to profit from basically home brew games and all the fun went out of it all etc. I cannot remember the history but I know while there was some very good games produced commercially, it was also around the time that commercialism basically ruined the hobby computer market... Hard to remember the story after all these years.

Yeah AA is mostly active with the old consoles like the 2600. I have not really taken notice of the forum for the past few years. I kind of got the impression the console stuff was kind of dying slowly. I knew there was home brew games built did not really think there was that many for Atari to even worth bothering with.chronicthehedgehog wrote: 07 Sep 2023 19:24 I've just spent an hour going through the Q&A. Seems they want to run the forum store which could be basically a advertising means for them. I only had a quick look through the threads anyway.
Hopefully something positive will come out of it all but I shall remain skeptical :)

Re: AtariAge acquired by Atari. Wow
AA is also pretty active for 8bit Ataris and I’m a bit scared this signs the end of ports to 8bit or other mods to existing IPs.
How is Atari going to react to their software being modded and posted on the forum, like what has been happening for a few weeks now with Fujinet high-score feature.
Let’s see.

Remember that this isn't the old Atari. This is a company which just bought the brand after it's been passed from company to company many, many times over the decades.
Isn't the current owner mostly interested in crypto currency?

Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.
